Feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed? I get it. It always seems like there is so much going on. Whenever you think you've got a break or have some time to catch up... something else happens. EVERY TIME, and of course, it feels like it has to be done right now, making you feel even more overwhelmed and behind on everything.

First off, you're not alone. I feel you on this... I really do! The good news is I have some tips to help combat that and help you regain control of your time, even with all the craziness that comes with motherhood and life in general. While it won't eliminate your to-do list, it will help... I promise. Just give these tips a try!

  1. Time Blocking

I have a time-blocking template that can help you with this...but the key here is to time-block with LARGE blocks. Don't give yourself 20 or 30 minutes to get something done. As a mom, I know thats not always realistic. So instead of small amounts, provide your hour blocks and add a few things. For example, if during my 10-12 block, I get the laundry folded, lunch made, and bathrooms cleaned, that feels a lot easier than...

10:00-10:45 - Laundry folded

10:45-11:30- Lunch

11:30-12:00- Clean bathrooms

I mean, just looking at that already stresses me out. Having the larger time blocks makes me feel like I can actually get the stuff done at my own pace.

2. Clear the surfaces

I would argue that surface clutter is the worst kind of clutter. If you want to feel like you have your life together and help your head from spinning out of control...clear the surfaces. I'm talking kitchen counters, tables, side tables, coffee tables, ect..

You will be surprised by just how much that surface clutter affects your everyday.

3. Music

Nothing feels better than an impromptu dance party or music session. Music can instantly give you the little push you need to get back on track with your day. The kids will love this one, also :)

4.Brain Dump.

Get it out of your head and onto paper. Then you can look at all the crazy that's in your head and sort it into a plan. A lot of the stuff you're stressing about or thinking about isn't as big of a deal as it is in your head. That's because we have SO MUCH going on all the time. Once you write it all down, you can sort it into categories and go from there. Here are a few categories I set things into once I dump it all out. I have a worksheet for this, also!

Kids

Work

Clients

House

Animals

Need to do now

can wait

I would like to do

Come back to by

I need to run by someone

5. Be okay with the fact that you cant do it all....and thats okay!

You don't have to do everything

You don't have to be everything for everyone

You can only do the best you can do

You are not the sum of your productivity

Time spent with people will always outweigh a clean house and folded laundry

You are doing an awesome job

Remember you got this! Small steps at a time lead to great results!
